Honeycrisp Harvest Update
latest news on the harvest
Greetings From Door County!
Just a quick note to let you know that we are now picking our very sweet and tasty raspberries. They are the best tasting raspberries that we have ever grown and they have nice size.
We do have some tart, Montmorency, cherries each day but supply is limited because of the light crop. Our sweet cherries are keeping people coming back for more and the blueberries are very big and sweet.
Strawberries are finished for the year but we continue to work on our new bed for next year’s crop.
We hope to have peaches in a couple of weeks. We will let you know when they are in for sure.
If you are coming to Door County, stop in to check out our fudge counter. We have a great summer fudge called creamsicle. It will bring you back in time with the great taste of that refreshing orange and vanilla flavor. We will be trying a new fudge flavor this next week with our raspberries. It will be a raspberry chocolate delight. Of course we always have samples of all our fudge so you can taste them before you choose which flavors suit you the most.
One of our most popular sampling stops at the market is Gloria’s dip mixes. She whips up some great delights for you to sample. Spinach and Almond Poppyseed are two of our most popular flavors. So check them out the next time you are in our market.
For an evening of entertainment, you might like to visit Birch Creek Music Center. They are offering concerts in symphonic, percussion and big band/jazz music. Performances are held in a barn to give you a great sense of the country living.
If you’re in Door County be sure to stop in and say hi and let us know what you think of our market. Fill out a comment card and you will have an opportunity to win a $50 gift certificate. We will be choosing a winner the end of August and again the end of October.
Take care. Hope to see you at the market.
